The Sweetness of Things Half-Remembered, 20 May at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music.

I am very excited to be performing music from my latest album at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music.

I originally set out to compose a suite of diverse movements to explore some ways in which an improvising pianist and saxophonist can interact with a string quartet. These works were then recorded and premiered at the 2014 Brisbane International Jazz Festival. It is a real pleasure performing with Steve Newcomb and a beautiful string quartet.

I hope to see you there.

Rafael Karlen - saxophone
Steve Newcomb - piano
Rebecca Karlen - violin
Eugenie Costello-Shaw - violin
Bethan Lewis - viola
Danielle Bentley - cello
